How to Set Your Own Goal!
Knowingly or unknowingly we would have made personal goals in our lives. New Year’s Resolution, goals like studying harder for exams or getting better grades, or to save up to buy a car by the next year or pay off your house loan, these are all goals, personal goals. These goals are just that personal, its how you make these goals and achieve it, which can be similar to everyone.
Many people in the world have tried personal goal settings, it may have worked out for some but may no have worked out for others. Some would have found it difficult to achieve the goals they have set. Yes we hear alot of “you got to set goals“, “you got to work harder”, however, unless we have in mind what we really want to become and what we really want to do in life, and knowing your own interests, skills, capabilities, it would be very difficult to achieve personal goals. It would be too overwhelming.
Personal goals are truly your own personal goals, yes it is personal, so the goals you make have to be your own goals. You can’t “borrow” others goals to make it work for you, it might have worked on your friend, but it might not work for you. Create the big picture of what you want to achieve in all, what you want to become. This big picture is your base of your goals. From this picture, slowly branch out into smaller goals. For example, becoming rich is your big goal, you can branch out smaller goals, for example earn $1000 within a month, save $300 per month, etc. Smaller goals that would complement your bigger goal. Write all this down in your diary or piece of paper. Just like how you plan to go for holiday, this is like your life plan, your ambition. After clearly going through the plan, its time to take action. You can’t achieve anything by just dreaming, writing or thinking. It all needs your own actions and determination.
But before taking action, sit down for a some time, go through your plan again, now consider these few things:
Are your goals achievable? Be honest with yourself and know your capabilities, not achieving might hurt your feelings. And its good to dream but reality might be bitter.
Can you put in the effort, the action needed? You can’t achieve by just having a goal and not doing anything about it, or just sitting in front of the computer and thinking i should do this. To achieve you need to put in some hard work, there’s nothing without any effort.
Do you really really want to do it? Why would you want to do something you don’t really want. It would not only effect your success, you would not be happy after doing it.
Do you people who are there to back you, support you on your endeavors? Having people to support you and cheer you on would make it easier to achieve and accomplish your goals.
Is your goal a selfish one? Does it benefit anyone else other than yourself? We should not be selfish and hurt others in the process of getting what we want, we would not have the satisfaction and if its not in the best interest of others you might be neglected from your friends and relatives.
Do you love what you are going to do? You have to love what you do, enjoying and loving what you do would let you accomplish your personal goals and be successful in what you do. The satisfaction of doing it would be much better than doing what you don’t love.

Goal Settings? Is That so Important?
November 18, 2008 by semmy · Leave a Comment
We see many people everyday in our lives, alot of them becoming successful in their career, in their studies, in relationships. We often see a lot of successful people on television, talking about their successes and hard work, but we don’t realize that behind every success there is a lot of determination and goal settings done by the person.
Goal Settings? Is that so important? Goal Settings is very important, you may never realise it but whatever you do is striving for a goal. When you learn, you are striving for the goal to get better results which would let you get a good job, and when you work, your goal is to earn money and live a better life. Thus our life revolves around goals and achieving them. When we were young, or in school, our parents and teachers always ask us to write down our goals for exams, our goals for the year or next etc, why? so that we can be succesful in whatever we plan to do, be it that year or in the exams, why the most successful people do that, they set goals and targets for themselves.
Firstly, what are goals? Basically, goals are like your ambitions, it’s what you want to achieve, what you want to do in your life. Many people don’t have goals, and they don’t have any plans for their lives. They don’t have a direction they want to go and they have vague plans for themselves or for their lives. They don’t take the proper actions to achieve and they usually are not successful in what they do.
Setting goals helps you set your own barriers, you create your own atmosphere, your own “fence”, helping you to keep away from what you feel as distractions. You know what you want and you decide on your own. It also helps you to learn new things and discover new interests. Its like a your kitchen storage, writing down things you need and don’t need would help you save space and let you clear up your bulky kitchen storage. Its the same thing, setting goals will help you clear up your mind and your life, and on the way you may learn new things and discover new interests. Setting goals also gives you responsibility, for yourself and your life. Your failures is not other’s faults and setting goals let you take control of your life, you are responsible for it, its all up to you and yourself. Setting goals also motivates you, it motivates you to achieve it and do better. It opens your eyes to see where you are weak at and motivates you to do better. And lastly as my friend once told me, setting goals is to let you have your own personal experience and for you to grow. Setting your own goals gives you the experience you need in life, which would enrich your life and you would not make the mistakes you made again. Hence setting goals is important.

Hypnotherapy and NLP are they closley related with each other?
November 14, 2008 by semmy · Leave a Comment
NLP and Hypnosis has a feature in common, both use our subconscious minds. Hypnotherapy and NLP are closely related with each other. They are most often considered as branches of the same family of theurapatic approaches. When you are looking for a hypnotherapist to having hypnotherapy, there is a possibility that you may be hypnotherapists practicing NLP to some extent, and on the other hand, you may also find NLP therapists practicing hypnotherapy techniques to an extent during their sessions.
In Hypnotherapy or Hypnosis, a hypnotist uses different types of hypnotic techniques for making positive changes. These techniques most often try to solve the patient’s or person’s problems by putting the patient or person in a deeply relaxed state of mind or a trance and positive thoughts and suggestions are induced into the mind. While the person is under the trance, the hypnotist is able to get access into the subconscious mind for using it own abilities to solve problems. In this state, the patient’s subconscious mind is able to hear the therapist and follow the suggestions given.
Similar to hypnotherapy, NLP also works on the subconscious mind for finding solutions for problems of the patients. The patients are put into a trance by using language patterns. Other techniques used are Metaphorical story telling and using imagination, which are hypnotic techniques used by NLP therapists.
Though it seems like both are very similar, in fact they have their own distinctive differences. Most NLP techniques do include some form of hypnotherapy but, they are used in a more subtle way. And most often, a person will be able to experience deep relaxation after a NLP session. Thus, the person will be able to have a clear, positive thinking and a relaxed mind.

NLP Can be Used for Many Purposes and Many Objectives in Our Lives
November 12, 2008 by semmy · Leave a Comment
NLP can be used for many purposes and many objectives in our lives. Take for example, influencing people, increasing business, to deal with rejection etc. We meet many people everyday, we face stress, challenges and we all want to be successful in facing these situations. To be successful, we need to deal with all these challenges hurled towards us. Its all part and parcel of daily life. Why even the most persuasive sales person, or the luckiest person has times that they feel the torture of these experiences. NLP can help ease these situations and help ease your stress.
Firstly, when you are feeling the stress, the unhappiness of the bad situation, just sit down in a comfortable and quiet place.Take a deep breath and close your eyes and slowly think of the incident. Don’t get worked up or draw conclusions on that incident yet. Calmly just flash it across your mind slowly, like as though watching a movie, and stop or freeze the thought at the end of it.
Next, slowly drain away the colour from the picture, make it black or white. There will be something about the picture that gives it definition and this often is in proportion to the bad feelings we get from the experience. This is how to use NLP for making changes to your feelings about the past. Whatever stands out, such as color, outlines, tones, tone it right down. Even if it’s already black and white, drain the color so it becomes Grey.
Finally, rewind your internal video at a faster than normal speed, and watch the whole thing in reverse. Its funny to see people doing things in reverse. See them eat their own words, hear the sounds at a fast speed and in reverse. Watch the funny walks as they go backwards at speed. You just can’t take the people in the pictures seriously anymore, including you.And when you’ve reached the start of the internal film, start playing it forwards. Still at a faster than normal speed. Now you’re the director, and you can make it as funny and ridiculous as you like. Let your creative juices flow in and do whatever you like to the people in the scene, the place, anything.
If you have truly learned how to use NLP to deal with the negative effect of experiences, you should feel totally different about the bad experience. You would have a different perspective and you would have erased those bad feelings you had.
And lastly, let this bad experience work positively for you. Think about the video again, now just imagine you going into the same experience in future or somewhat similar experience, and run the film at a speed you like, this time taking in all the positives, you are the director, you are in charge of the lightning, sound, everything. This positiveness would give you confidence and a burst of positive feelings.

NLP and Unconscious Mind
November 11, 2008 by semmy · 2 Comments
“NLP is converting unconscious processes into conscious ability” Andrew Duffy
“This philosophy grew from a 5 year immersion into the world of NLP and a desire to continue improving both myself and others” – Andrew Duffy.
Imagine and believe that you are a big success in your life, when you start believing that you are a success, you would act like a success and eventually would become a success. The secret to NLP is believing, and having a positive inner self. While being positive on the inside and outside, you will be able to be positive throughout your life, in the same case as success. What you think about is what you attract. If you are worried about money and health, you will manifest those things in your life. If you envision wealth, health and happy relationships, those things will come into your life.
“BELIEF + ACTION = SUCCESS”
If you have noticed, NLP, hypnosis and The Secret all use our unconscious mind. All of the things a person does is unconscious. The real “Secret” is that your own self and your unconscious mind must act together to be successful in achieving your objectives. You can’t quit drinking if your subconscious doesn’t see the point. You can’t grow taller if your subconscious sees no good reason to. Focusing on what you want works because it gets you and your subconscious on the objective and achieving it is much easier. The person who believes in themselves and then acts is far more likely to be successful

The Effective Stress Management
November 5, 2008 by semmy · Leave a Comment
Effective stress managment and ways to cope stress would make you not only feel healthier but also younger and much more energetic than before. These 5 steps to managing stress would shape your life and also change your attitude. Most of the time, stress can be treated on our own, but for more severe or serious/ chronic stress, professional treatment should be sought.
The cheapest and most effective medicine is laughter. Have you ever heard of the saying “Laughter is the best medicine”? It is true, studies show laughter lowers stress levels and boosts your immune system. Laughter can distract you from your stressful thoughts and it relieves the tension that you are facing. It can also put your thinking into perspective. Try to spend time with family members, sharing jokes, watching comedies or just have a girls night out or a guys night out and have alot of fun and laughter, this would would give you a change of atmosphere and help relieve the stress that you are feeling.
Another simple way to relax is by breathing, it is as simple as it sounds. Deep breathing can be one of the most effective stress reducing techniques. This is so simple, it can piratically be done anywhere and anytime. When you are stressed and feeling the pain of your workload, just stop for a while and try out this little exercise, breathe in deeply through your nose: pull a deep breath down to the pit of your stomach. This rush of energy coming in will relax and revitalize your body. Quietly breathe out through your mouth with a “whoosh” sound. Do this continually for several minutes. This would ease you from your stress and make you feel much better.
Another way to destress can be through music. Music is know for its healing and soothing properties. If you are stressed or even tired, just listen to soothing, calming or even inspirational music. This would help ease the tension you are feeling and make you relax. Once you feel relaxed, and the tension is gone, you would feel much better to continue your work.
When you are feeling stresseddoing some work, just relax. A brief time out would help. You can lie down for a while, take a short nap or go for a small walk in a different atmosphere or just get out to breathe in some fresh air for a while. Do these small activities for a minimum of 15 mins and your mind can relax, not allowing you to think of stressful thoughts or feel the stress. This is a very effective way to let your mind de-stress.
Last but not least, quiet your thoughts, it helps you to deal with stress that comes from your own negative thoughts. A while of focused relaxation a day could lengthen your life, lower your blood pressure and cholesterol, improve your mental health, and reduce chronic pain, anxiety, and stress. Here’s how to discover the health benefits for yourself. First, find a quiet spot and rest comfortably. Make sure you’ll have no other distractions. Close your eyes, breathe deeply, and relax all your muscles. Think of a word or phrase with special meaning to you. It should be something uplifting, like the word “joy”, or “peace.” Or choose a favorite verse or prayer. Reflect on it quietly, pushing aside intrusive thoughts. Continue to relax like this for about 10 to 20 minutes.
Meditation works best when you focus on someone or something else, ignoring fears and problems. When you notice negative thoughts, just say “stop!” to yourself. It may sound too simple to be effective – but it works, even though you may have to repeat the word several times until the negative thoughts are interrupted.
